How It Works: Treatment Stages

Water passes through the following stages in order. Each stage is arranged to protect the next one:

1. CTO carbon block filter: Compressed carbon block reduces chlorine, chemical residues, taste and odour, and also acts as an extra mechanical filter for fine particles.
2. 5 micron sediment filter: Removes sand, rust, silt and particles larger than 5 microns, preventing early clogging of the following cartridges and tanks.
3. GAC granular activated carbon filter: Granular activated carbon helps reduce taste, odour and chemical residues; especially effective against the unpleasant smell often found in well water.

When Is It the Right Choice?

• When an economical pre-treatment is needed at an apartment or home inlet.
• When well water carries sand, silt, rust or odour; also as a protective stage before an automatic softener.

Choosing for Well Water

Besides hardness, well water may contain iron, manganese, turbidity and microbiological contamination. To choose the right stages, first measure your water hardness (how to measure water hardness) and ideally have a laboratory analysis done. Installation and Maintenance

• Cartridges are usually replaced every 3–12 months depending on water quality and consumption; washable cartridges are cleaned periodically (when to replace a limescale filter).
