Whole-Building Water Softener

In hotels, office buildings, schools, hospitals and commercial premises, hard water is not just a cosmetic problem. Scale on boiler heat exchangers and calorifiers increases energy use, cooling towers and kitchen equipment need frequent descaling, and blocked pipes cause expensive downtime. A whole-building water softener on the main inlet protects all of this at once.

In short: commercial buildings usually need a twin-tank (duplex), volume-controlled softener so soft water is never interrupted, with sediment pre-filtration and a sizing based on peak flow and hardness load.

Where Is It Used?

  • Hotels and resorts: hot water systems, laundries, kitchens, pools.
  • Office and business centres: boilers, heat pumps, coffee machines, restrooms.
  • Schools, dormitories, hospitals: high simultaneous use and strict hygiene routines.
  • Restaurants and industrial kitchens: dishwashers, steam ovens, ice machines.

Why Twin-Tank Systems?

A single-tank softener bypasses hard water while it regenerates. In buildings with hot water generation or sensitive equipment this is not acceptable. A twin-tank system alternates: one column softens while the other regenerates, delivering soft water 24 hours a day. Metered valves start regeneration only when the measured volume requires it.

Sizing Criteria

Criterion Why it matters
Peak flow (m³/h) Sets valve and tank size; too small means pressure loss
Daily consumption × hardness Sets resin volume and regeneration frequency
Hot water share Hot water circuits are most sensitive to scale
Water source Well water may need iron, carbon or UV stages
Space, drain, power Determines layout and brine tank size

System Components

  1. Sediment filter: protects the resin from sand and rust (see limescale filter).
  2. Carbon filter (optional): removes chlorine and odour, also protecting the resin.
  3. Twin-tank softener: FRP pressure tanks, food-grade resin, metered duplex valve.
  4. Brine tank: sized so salt is added weekly or less often.
  5. UV (optional): for well water or storage tanks.

Benefits

  • Lower energy use thanks to clean heat-exchange surfaces.
  • Longer life for boilers, pumps, valves and appliances.
  • Fewer descaling chemicals and less downtime.
  • Spotless glassware, linen and sanitary ware.

Installation and Support Abroad

We size the system from your water analysis, peak flow and plant-room photos, supply pre-assembled units with layout drawings, and support your local contractor remotely during installation and commissioning. Residential blocks are covered on water softener for apartment blocks; villas and well water on villa water softener.

Price

Commercial systems are priced per project. Our ready models start with the Clack fully automatic softener and the 100-litre Runxin S-100; see water softener models and water softener prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a hotel need a twin-tank softener?

Because hot water systems must receive soft water all the time. A twin-tank unit keeps one column in service while the other regenerates.

Can you design a system for a project abroad?

Yes. Send the water analysis, flow data and plant-room photos; we prepare the design, quote in USD and ship worldwide.

How much salt does a commercial softener use?

It depends on hardness and consumption. Metered valves regenerate only when needed and keep salt use to a minimum.
